APRLP Mandal-Level Activities                                  Back

APRLP livelihood promotion interventions begin simultaneously at village and mandal-levels (administrative unit).  At the mandal-level, effort focused on improving the enabling environment for livelihood (on- and off-farm) growth.  This involves the coordination of service providers, market infrastructure and technical resource agencies:

  • Mandal Organisations: formed by federating SHGs in the mandal to promote advanced livelihood options by coordinating and improving access to a range of services.  Such as: government services, external finance sources, capacity building inputs, and business development services

  • Networks: networking of primary stakeholders (producers, traders, consumers, etc.), resource persons / agencies, service providers for better access to services (through increased bargaining power, economies of scale, etc.)

  • Resource Centres: establishing resource centres for specific growth sectors for one-stop service delivery: including technical and market advice, raw material and other inputs, etc. These centres will work in collaboration with the appropriate Government line Departments.  These are to be located in the mandal headquarters.  These are to be owned and managed by the Mandal Organisation.  The resource centres will have facilities for: banking, training (with dormitory), business counseling, shopping, micro-markets, agriculture and livestock demonstration, information centre, etc.   The first such resource centre has been established at Moosapet, Addakal mandal.

  • Mandal plans: each mandal would have a business plan, organization and institutional development policy, financial, information and performance management systems centered around community-based management.
