APRLP Activities

APRLP activities are engaged at various levels from the watersheds to the State. ie Village, Mandal, District & State

APRLP Activities at Watershed-level:

APRLP has a commitment to work in 2,500 watersheds.  2000 of these will be on-going and completed watersheds, and 500 will be new watersheds. In the first year, implementation was in selected Mandals only.  All the new watersheds are located in these Mandals which were selected based on poverty indicators.  All remaining on-going and completed watersheds in the selected Mandal were also covered in the first year.  In order to cover all 2000 completed and on-going watersheds, APRLP expanded to work in other Mandals after the first year.
APRLP's approach is to take the village as a unit rather than the 500 ha which is the area based definition of a watershed.  APRLP will saturate the treatment area, in terms of soil and moisture conservation, and reach out to all sections of the population (in particular the poor, landless and women) through the promotion of sustainable livelihoods. APRLP is guided by the principle that interventions should be people-centred, pro-poor, flexible and participatory.  Activities should build on strengths, involve the better use of existing resources and include new options to address constraints identified by the community.  The following sections outline the activities and processes that APRLP is initiating at watershed-level.
