Our Vision is to eradicate rural poverty and secure better quality of life to the rural poor. The challenges lie in harnessing the innate potential within the poor and enabling the poor manage the natural resource for sustainable development. Enhancement of skills of the poor, access to credit, technology and markets have proved to be critical to economic empowerment of the poor. The movement of Self Help Groups of women and their vibrant networks in AP has clearly demonstrated that the institutions of the poor, owned and managed by the poor are proving to be most effective in the change process. It is this recognition in the strength of community based organisations of the poor ie guiding the Department's and approach to poverty reduction.
