DWMA (District Water Management Agency) has been created as a separate establishment on Dt 28-09-2001vide G.O.Ms.No 275 PR&RD(RD-II) Dept. Dt 05-09-2001by bifurcating from DRDA exclusively to look after development of human resources and Natural Resources on Watershed Basis. Consequently, the Govt. vide GO.MS.No.84 PR&RD (RD-IV) Dept. Dt.22-03-03 have issued orders changing the nomenclature of Project Director DPAP as Project Director District Water Management Agency (DWMA) uniformly for all districts in the state
The Chairman of the Project is District Collector and the Project is looked after by Project Director who is assisted by M.D.T (Multi Disciplinary Team) having one Deputy Executive Engineer, Assistant Conservator of Forest, Assistant Director of Agriculture, Assistant Engineer and Agriculture Officer as members. The Agency is also monitoring CLDP, NFFWP, APREGs under NREGA, Food for Work Programme, AP WALTA, Biodiesel, and APMIP in the District
